Although some aren’t so great- one had some sort of alarm system and the host I think was definitely watching (not in the bedroom or bathroom but out in the living room, hallways, kitchen) bc there were monitor lights out there and they would start flashing when I would move around in those areas and then it would stop when I think they remotely turned it off (albeit I was in a country with a high crime rate and my guess would be that they had breakins before or something when no one was there – but still weird)… also while generally I find them cleaner than hotels, I have found that a few I stayed in weren’t very clean- something I might expect from couch surfing (staying for free), but definitely not a place you’re paying for… also usually I stay in a private room in a home vs the whole home and one place I stayed they had small kids … while the parents had a room on the main floor, the small kids room was on the second floor by the private rooms!
